The New Orleans Saints are a third of the way through their training camp. There's still a long way to go, including three preseason games, but we've had enough time to draw some early conclusions. One of the most spirited New Orleans Saints practices in recent memory ended with a bit of controversy and a lot of trash talk. Leading the third-team offense on a two-minute drive to close out practice, quarterback Jake Haener faced an all-or-nothing scenario from the 13-yard line with two seconds remaining. His pass toward the back of the end zone fell incomplete, causing an eruption from the defensive sideline, but a late flag flew from the officials working practice. SEE MORE >>

The New Orleans Saints' punting competition just took an interesting turn. The Saints signed punter Kai Kroeger on Thursday, a source with knowledge of the situation said making New Orleans' punting battle a three-man race. In a corresponding move, the Saints cut quarterback Hunter Dekkers to make room for Kroeger. Dekkers, an understated free agent, was on the roster as a developmental quarterback, but his reps were extremely limited with the Saints conducting a competition for the starting job. SEE MORE >>

Thursday's padded practice was the first full practice held indoors at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center. Coach Kellen Moore mentioned it was scheduled before camp began being the second straight padded practice before a day off, and the next two practices will be outside Saturday and Sunday.
