New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed free agent punter Kai Kroeger and waived quarterback Hunter Dekkers.

Kroeger, 6-3, 213, joins New Orleans after spending the offseason with the New York Jets, who signed him as a free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft out of South Carolina. The Lake Forest, Ill. native served as the Gamecocks' starting punter for five seasons (2020-2024), emerging as one of the top punters in school history. Over his career, he recorded 265 punts for 11,823 yards (44.6 avg.) with a long of 79 yards and 100 downed inside the 20 yard-line, earning All-SEC and All-America honors in both 2022 and 2024. Kroeger also completed 7-of-10 pass attempts for 205 yards with three touchdowns and owns four of the 11 punts of 70 yards or more by a Gamecock since 1979.

Kroeger appeared in 61 games throughout his Gamecock career, tying for the most games played in school history, and finished second in SEC history with 11,823 punting yards. In his final season with South Carolina, he was named first-team All-SEC and a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, annually given to the nation's top punter, after punting 47 times for 2,248 yards (47.8 avg.) with a long of 75 yards.
