The National Football League announced today that New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has been named the December/January NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.
Shough, 6 feet 5, 219 pounds, was the team's second round selection (40th overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He earned the offensive honor after completing 114-of-163 passes (69.9 pct.) for 1,316 yards with five touchdowns, two interceptions and a 99.1 passer rating (111.6 on third down) over the final month of the regular season. Shough also rushed 24 times for 135 yards with three touchdowns during the stretch.
Shough's standout rookie season for the Black and Gold has made him a front runner for Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. In 10 games with eight starts, he completed 221-of-327 passes (67.6 pct.) for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns, only six interceptions and a 91.3 passer rating, with his 103.3 third down passer rating leading the NFL. Shough's 67.6 completion percentage was the third-highest among qualifying rookies all-time.
In the five-game stretch from Dec. 7-Jan. 4, he led the Black and Gold to a 4-1 record, including a four-game winning streak with three fourth quarter game-winning drives. During the five-game stretch, the Chandler, Ariz., native, led all NFL rookies in completions, completion percentage, passing yards, passer rating and third down passer rating, as well as victories and fourth quarter game-winning drives
