Analysis: For the first time in his superb 11-year career, New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September of 2019. Eleven of Morstead's 17 punts in September were downed inside the 20-yard line. Morstead punted the ball 60 times this season, tied for third-most in his career, for an average of 46.2 yards per punt. Morstead contributed to the Saints finishing first in NFL writer Rick Gosselin's special teams rankings based on overall performance of special teams.

Best game: Morstead earned recognition from the NFL as the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 6, having placed five of his six punts against the Jacksonville Jaguars inside their 20-yard line.

Best quote: "I've prided myself on being a great directional punter my whole career. Anybody who says they can control the bounce of the ball, I'd have a hard time believing. So you've got to have some good fortune sometimes when it doesn't go directly out of bounds, but I'll take the nice roll." - Morstead
