New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough could etch his name into the franchise record books in a couple different spots this weekend against the Carolina Panthers. Because the Saints have not traditionally turned to rookie quarterbacks in starting roles, several franchise records for rookie quarterbacks are within range for Shough despite the fact that he is in line to make his sixthth career start. After missing last week's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Taliese Fuaga was back on the New Orleans Saints practice field Wednesday. The right tackle has missed four games this year for various reasons, having dealt with knee and back injuries as well as an injury to his other ankle. In a rain-soaked tilt with division rival Tampa Bay, New Orleans Saints rookie Tyler Shough put the team on his back. The 26-year-old quarterback ran for two touchdowns Sunday, including the game-winner in a 24-20 victory over the Bucs. It wasn't all pretty for the rookie, who completed 13 of 20 passes for 144 yards and threw an interception on a miscommunication with Chris Olave, but when the Saints needed a play, the rookie stepped up.
