New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has agreed to terms with free agent safety Julian Blackmon on a one-year contract.

Blackmon, 6-0, 202, is a five-year NFL veteran who was originally selected in the third round (85th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Utah. In five seasons with the Colts, the Layton, Utah native has played in 66 games with 62 starts, recording 293 tackles (220 solo), 1.5 sacks, 13 stops for a loss, ten interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, 21 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and seven coverage stops. During his time in Indianapolis, Blackmon participated in numerous Colts community initiatives, including the Colts Unified Flag Classic, the Hispanic Heritage football camp/book fair, mobile food pantry distributions, visiting local hospitals, and building playgrounds in the greater Indianapolis area.

In his lone postseason appearance with Indianapolis in the 2020 AFC Wild Card round, Blackmon started at safety and recorded five solo stops. In 2024, he started all 16 games he played in, posting 86 tackles (62 solo), a half sack, three interceptions, four pass breakups, one stop for a loss, and one fumble recovery.

Collegiately, Blackmon played four seasons with the Utes (2016-19), appearing in 48 games with 39 starts, recording 158 tackles (118 solo), 1.5 sacks, 8.5 stops for a loss, 29 pass breakups, nine interceptions, and two forced fumbles. As a senior in 2019, he earned consensus first-team All-America honors after he started 12 games and recorded 60 tackles (41 solo), 1.5 sacks, four stops for a loss, eight pass breakups, a team-high four interceptions and tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles. In his first season at strong safety after previously excelling at cornerback for the Utes, he tied for the Pac-12 lead in picks.
