New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu announced his retirement from pro football on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The three-time Pro Bowler, three-time AP All-Pro and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2010s All-Decade Team completed a 12-year NFL career. Figures from around the NFL reacted to the culmination of Mathieu's storied career.

Mathieu's comments were overflowing with people congratulating him on the stellar career and reflecting on their time with Mathieu in the NFL.

"One of the greatest to ever do it! Grateful for all of our moments together!! Thank you, you truly blessed my life just being around you dawg! Keep going," commented linebacker Demario Davis.

"One of the greatest I've ever played against and with. Congrats on everything!" commented former Saints quarterback Derek Carr.

"Damn 5! This one hurt. Blessed to have played on two teams wit you brother. 🐐" commented defensive tackle Khalen Saunders.

"Legend," commented wide receiver Chris Olave.

"Naw Legend it's more gas in that tank than it is on the NFL field! Wow. I'm so proud of u man. You did the doggone thang. Well done my brother well done! Love man," commented Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.

"Legend! Hell of a run brother. Hell of a run," commented former All-Pro defensive end JJ Watt who was teammates with Mathieu on the Texans in 2018.

"HIM!!! Congrats FIVE!! πŸ™πŸΎπŸ‘‘" commented Saints legend Mark Ingram.

"Congrats on one hell of a career, my brotha!! 🫑," commented Saints legend Lance Moore.

"Championship swagger dawg!!! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ» One of the greatest to lace em up! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯," commented Kansas City Chiefs tight end and former teammate Travis Kelce.

Others took to X and their own Instagram accounts to commemorate Mathieu's career.
