New Orleans Saints sign safety Jonas Sanker to four-year contract

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Monday that the club has signed safety Jonas Sanker to a four-year contract.

Jonas (pronounced YO-nis) Sanker was selected with the club's second third round selection (93rd overall) out of Virginia. Sanker, 6 feet 1, 210 pounds, played four seasons for the Cavaliers anchoring the back line of the defense and also contributing on special teams. The Charlottesville, Va., native appeared in 43 games with 33 starts and recorded 273 tackles (176 solo), 13 stops for loss, two sacks, four forced fumbles, two interceptions, 17 pass breakups, 19 passes defensed and four forced fumbles. In 2024, he started all 12 games he appeared in and recorded 98 tackles (65 solo), two sacks, 8.5 stops for loss, one interception, four pass breakups and five passes defensed, as he was selected Associated Press first-team All-ACC for the second consecutive season.
