Young Leadership Council unveils music lineup for 15th annual YLC Wednesday at the Square

Anders Osborne, Marcia Ball, and The Dirty Dozen Brass Band are among headliners for this year's 12-week concert series, beginning Wednesday, March 19

The Young Leadership Council (YLC) announced the lineup for its 15th annual YLC Wednesday at the Square concert series, which officially kicks off on Wednesday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. with performances from Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and opening act Moon Hooch.

The 12-week concert series takes place in downtown New Orleans at Lafayette Square (between Camp Street and St. Charles Avenue, directly across from Gallier Hall) each Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., beginning on March 19 and running through June 4.

"We are thrilled to unveil this year's music lineup, which is the result of several months' worth of hard work from Warren Surcouf, our WATS Committee Chair, and his team of dedicated volunteers," said 2014 YLC Board President Matthew Treuting. "We look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces -- and plenty of new ones -- at the Square soon."

This season's lineup features several well-known performers such as Anders Osborne, Marcia Ball, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Paul Sanchez and the Rolling Road Show, Theresa Andersson, Honey Island Swamp Band, and The Iguanas. The full lineup is available at www.wednesdayatthesquare.com.

This year's concerts are presented by the New Orleans Saints, returning once again as the title sponsor for the series. Other sponsors for the series include Republic National Distribution Company, Abita Brewing Company, Bellwether Technology Company, Dow, and the Downtown Development District. Sponsorship opportunities, including private hospitality tents, are currently available for the 2014 concert series. Please contact Juliana Wilkins at juliana@ylcnola.org for more information.

Founded in 1999 by Downtown Development District, YLC Wednesday at the Square is the longest-running weekday concert series in New Orleans. YLC has produced the music festival every year since 2006, and YLC Wednesday at the Square currently serves as the organization's primary source of funding.

"Without support from our community, YLC could not continue its contributions to the Greater New Orleans area," said Treuting. "We truly appreciate everyone who has continually supported YLC by attending our spring concerts."

In addition to the music acts featured each week, YLC Wednesday at the Square includes an Artist Village, showcasing local handcrafted items including jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photographs, t-shirts, and more. A variety of food and beverages are also available for purchase to concert attendees, with proceeds from these sales benefitting YLC's community service projects, designed to not only improve the quality of life in Greater New Orleans but also to foster leadership skills in young professionals.

"The success of this concert series allows our volunteers to make a larger impact in our community," said YLC Executive Director Curry W. Smith. "I can't think of an easier way for someone to support YLC's efforts than by enjoying these concerts every week."
