Vikings at Saints, halftime update: New Orleans leads 13-6

First home game for Saints

The New Orleans Saints Saints got off to a strong start Sunday in their 2014 home opener against the Minnesota Vikings taking a 13-6 halftime lead at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Saints, who started the season with back-to-back road losses, marched 80 yards on their opening possession and scored on a 1-yard dive by Pierre Thomas. After forcing a three-and-out by the Vikings, Drew Brees led the Saints on an 82-yard drive that was capped by a 34-yard scoring pass to tight end Josh Hill.

The Vikings scored twice on Blair Walsh field goals (25 and 30 yards).

Brees was 15 of 19 for 153 yards and the one score. Khiry Robinson led the team in rushing with 38 yards on six carries. Brandin Cooks had five receptions for 37 yards while tight end Jimmy Graham had four for 37 yards.
