Backup quarterback Luke McCown led the New Orleans Saints on two long scoring drives in the third quarter to take a 17-10 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. McCown connected with wide receiver Preston Parker on two scoring passes from two yards out in the quarter. The Saints' defense was stingy the entire period but was put in a bad start at the end of the quarter when the special teams gave up a 79-yard kickoff return to Knile Davis.

Key stats: Saints total yards: 335; third-down efficiency: 6 of 11; Luke McCown, 18 of 28 for 216 yards, two TDs and one interception. Travaris Cadet, 13 carries for 40 yards. Nick Toon, four catches for 66 yards.
