Sean Payton delivers "Baskets of Hope" to kids at Ochsner Medical Center

This is the third year Payton’s Foundation has teamed up with Basket of Hope for the event

Sean Payton delivered gift baskets to children at the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Thursday afternoon.

It's the third year Payton's Play it Forward Foundation has teamed up "Basket of Hope" to deliver gifts to patients at Ochsner Medical Center.

The baskets are filled with age-appropriate and gender specific toys, games, books, crafts, movies, gift certificates and more.

"Basket of Hope is an easy group to work with," said Payton. "Each year we come to the hospital and experience new visits. Some patients are leaving today and some just got here. The idea of giving and being there for the patients…today was great."

The goal of Payton's foundation is to raise funds and awareness for organizations fighting at the forefront for families and children in need.

"We are so grateful today for coach Sean Payton and his Play it Forward Foundation," said Basket of Hope New Orleans Branch Coordinator Ann Ollendike. "Basket of Hope is fairly young non-profit and we grateful to have the opportunity to visit these children to brighten up their day and encourage them."

Through the generosity of its donors, Basket of Hope provides gifts to children diagnosed with cancer or other serious illness. The baskets are delivered by volunteers who spend time meeting with the family. Basket of Hope customizes each basket with age appropriate toys, games, crafts, etc. for the child and siblings.
