Saints sign safety Jordan Pugh, place linebacker Parys Haralson on Injured Reserve

Isa Abdul-Quddus was waived; linebacker Rufus Johnson activated from practice squad

The New Orleans Saints announced Tuesday that they have signed free agent safety Jordan Pugh, placed outside linebacker Parys Haralson on Injured Reserve and waived safety Isa Abdul-Quddus. The announcement was made by Saints Coach Sean Payton after Tuesday's practice.

The Saints also activated linebacker Rufus Johnson from the practice squad.

Pugh, who comes to New Orleans after spending the first half of the 2013 season as a reserve defensive back and contributor on special teams with the Washington Redskins, has appeared in 44 career games with three starts in four NFL seasons with the Chargers and Carolina Panthers, compiling 48 tackles (33 solo), one sack, two interceptions, six passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 14 special teams stops.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound native of Plano, Texas, who originally entered the NFL as sixth-round draft pick out of Texas A&M by the Panthers in 2010 also brings extensive experience to the Saints as a kickoff returner. He has returned 11 kickoffs for 269 yards (24.5 avg.). In 2013, he appeared in four games with the Redskins and recorded two solo tackles, one interception and one pass defense.

Haralson tore a perctoral muscle during Saturday's 26-24 wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The 6-foot, 255-pounder played in 16 games for the Saints this season with 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks in eight starts. The Saints acquired him for the 49ers on Aug. 27.

Abdul-Quddus plaved in 11 games witht he Saints this season and 42 in his career with the saints which began in 2011. He had 13 tackles and one pass defense this season.

Johnson is a 6-5, 272-pound rookie from Tarleton State who was selected in the sixth round of the 2013 draft. He has not played in a game this season.
