Saints Sign Fifth-Round Draft Choice Matt Tennant; Re-Sign DE Bobby McCray

Three draft choices now signed

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Thursday that the club has signed center Matt Tennant, their 2010 fifth-round draft choice, to a four-year contract. Loomis also announced that the team has re-signed defensive end Bobby McCrayto a one-year contract.

Tennant(6-4, 300) started at center for the final three seasons of his collegiate career at Boston College, opening 41 games of the 46 he played for the Eagles. Taken by the Saints in the fifth round of April's NFL Draft with the 158th overall pick, the Cincinnati native was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree as a senior and was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation's top center.

McCray re-signs with the Saints after playing with the club for the past two seasons, making eight starts in 32 games. The six-year veteran defensive end has made 59 tackles with 7½ sacks since first signing with New Orleans as a free agent in the 2008 offseason and has tallied 29½ career sacks with 182 tackles, eight forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The 6-6, 260-pound lineman out of Florida also started all three of the Saints' victories last postseason, making nine tackles.

The team has also waived linebackers Harry Coleman and Sam Maxwell, defensive end Brandon Sharpe and cornerback Marcell Young. These four players were each signed as undrafted free agents in May.
