The Chevron/Saints Teachers of the Week from St. Bernard Parish were recognized at the Saints home game versus the Colts on this past Sunday for their outstanding commitment to the development and education of the students at their respective schools.

As a native of Meraux, Catherine Randall did not hesitate to return to St. Bernard Parish after Hurricane Katrina to assist with the schools' rebuilding efforts.  She currently teaches all subjects to her 3rd grade students at Davies Elementary and was recently named as the school's and the parish's elementary school teacher of the year.  As a graduate of Our Lady of Holy Cross College, Catherine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.  She has been very instrumental in writing assessments to help develop data driven instruction at Davies and is known for being very supportive of both her students and her peers.

Melissa Nunez has been teaching English and Social Studies to all 8th-12th grade students at C.F. Rowley Alternative School in her hometown of Chalmette for the past 6 years. Having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Social Work and a Certificate in Education from the University of New Orleans, Melissa's philosophy of "capturing kids' hearts" has proven to be very effective among her students, highlighting their positive attributes.  She was recognized as the St. Bernard Parish's high school teacher of the year and was praised for scheduling mentors for her students and helping them meet and exceed the expectations set in her classroom.

Congratulations again to Catherine Randall and Melissa Nunez, Chevron/Saints Teachers of the Week!
