The Saints got off to a quick 10-0 start on a 26-yard field goal by K Garrett Hartley and a one-yard touchdown pass from QB Drew Brees to FB Heath Evans. The Seahawks would outscore the Saints 24-10 in the rest of the first half, powered by three TD passes by QB Matt Hasselbeck. The Saints got within four with 9:13 left on a 21-yard field goal by Hartley, but a 67-yard touchdown run by RB Marshawn Lynch gave Seattle an 11-point lead with 3:22 left.
