New Orleans Saints vs. Oakland Raiders: Notebook

The Saints start the preseason 2-0 for the first time since 2009

*The New Orleans Saints start the preseason 2-0 for the first time since 2009, when they ended up 3-1. Their next contest is on Sunday, Aug. 25 when they travel to Reliant Stadium to face the Houston Texans. The game will be nationally televised on Fox with a 3 p.m. kickoff.

*Along with 2009, this is the second time since Sean Paytonbecame coach that the Saints have started 2-0 in the preseason.

*The Saints now lead the preseason series against the Raiders 4-2. The Saints have not lost in the preseason to Oakland since 2005. This was the first time that the Saints hosted the Raiders in the preseason.

*In the first half for which their starters played nearly in its entirety, New Orleans outgained the Raiders 240-130 and had 14 first downs to Oakland's six. For the game, the Saints outgained the Raiders 369-185.

*New Orleans recorded seven sacks, five in the first half. DE Glenn Foster had two sacks, while ILB Ramon Humber, OLB Will Smith, DE Cameron Jordan, DE Akiem Hicksand S Roman Harperrecorded one takedown each.

*QB Drew Brees played the first five series, completing 14 of 18 passes for 202 yards, one touchdown and a passer rating of 131.9. In one two-drive stretch covering the first and second quarters, Brees completed nine consecutive passes.

*Rookie QB Ryan Griffin took over behind center in the fourth quarter and completed five of six passes for 69 yards.

*RB Mark Ingramhad nine carries for 30 yards with a 2-yard touchdown run. Ingram also had an 11-yard reception.

*Rookie RB Khiry Robinsontook over running back duties in the fourth quarter and had game highs of 10 carries for 50 yards. He also had two receptions for 28 yards.

*WR Nick Toonhad a 56-yard reception from Brees in the first quarter to set up the two-yard touchdown run by Ingram on the next play.

*WR Kenny Stillshad four receptions for a team-high 64 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown catch.

*On a key first quarter drive following New Orleans' first touchdown, Humber and Jordan both recorded sacks of Oakland QB Matt Flynnto get the ball back quickly for New Orleans and set up another touchdown.

*LB Ramon Humber got the start at inside linebacker and led the team with nine tackles and one sack. Humber also made a key stop on the first drive of the game, stopping Oakland RB Darren McFaddenon a fourth and one play for no gain.

*On a second quarter drive, both Harper and Hicks recorded quarterback takedowns on the same series.
Rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro, the Saints' first-round pick in April's NFL Draft, finished with six solo tackles and a pass defensed.

*LB Will Herring was credited with the tackle on a fourth-quarter safety that extended the Saints' lead to 25-20.
