The Saints finish the preseason with a 3-1 record for the first time since 2009

The New Orleans Saints finished the preseason at 3-1 for the first time since 2009. Next week they will begin preparations for their regular season opener when they host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The game will be regionally televised on FOox-8) with a noon kickoff time.
·         The Saints fell to 7-14 against the Dolphins in the preseason.
·         The Saints and the Dolphins will face off again in the regular season when New Orleans hosts Miami at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday, Sept. 30.
·         New Orleans successfully converted 10-of-18 (56 percent) third-down attempts, including its first drive of the game where it successfully converted three-of-three third-down attempts en route to taking a 7-0 lead on an eight-yard touchdown run by running back Mark Ingram.
·         The New Orleans defense allowed the Dolphins to convert only three-of-13 third down attempts (23 percent).
·         Quarterback Luke McCown started and played the first series, completing four of seven passes for 44 yards.
·         Rookie QB Ryan Griffin relieved McCown for the second series and completed 15-of-31 passes for 198 yards and one touchdown. Griffin was intercepted by cornerback De'Andre Presley at the Dolphins' 6-yard line with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.
·         Ingram carried nine times for 49 yards, adding the first quarter touchdown.
·         Running back Khiry Robinson led the Saints in both rushing and receiving, recording 22 carries for 115 yards and six catches for 50 yards.
·         Fullback Austin Johnson got his first NFL touchdown when he caught a 2-yard swing pass from Griffin in the fourth quarter to put the Saints up 21-16.
·         Guard Tim Lelito scored a touchdown when he recovered a fumble by Robinson in the end zone.
·         Receiver Preston Parker made two receptions for 41 yards, including a third quarter 22-yard grab up to the Miami two-yard line.
·        Receiver Saalim Hakim had a fourth quarter 53-yard reception that put the Saints in position for a touchdown.
·         Defensive end Jay Richardson sacked Dolphins QB Pat Devlin for a loss of eight yards on a third down play in the second quarter to get the Saints defense off the field. Richardson also added a fourth quarter sack of QB Aaron Corp for a loss of seven yards.
·         Defensive end Tyrunn Walker had a key sack of Devlin on a third down play in the fourth quarter to get the defense off the field.
·         Nose tackle John Jenkins also added a fourth quarter sack
·         The New Orleans defense held the Dolphins without any points on a second quarter goal-line stand, preventing Miami from reaching the end zone on three consecutive plays from the Saints' 1-yard line.
·         Safety Jim Leonhard led the Saints with six solo tackles. Jenkins registered six stops (five solo).
·         Cornerback Korey Lindsey had a second quarter 5-yard interception return.
