The New Orleans Saints are hosting the HSPD Leadership Program presented by the National Guard on June 14th at the team's practice facility.
The HSPD Leadership Program is a one-day event comprised of activities in three different areas – the classroom, the community, and the leadership competitions. The classroom portion will be led by the NFL's Player Engagement Department and will consist of intensive character development and life skills training. Participants will have the opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering at Second Harvest. The leadership competitions will consist of a series of hands-on exciting activities led by the Louisiana Army National Guard.
The program will be a full day beginning with registration around 9 am and closing around 5 pm.
The New Orleans Saints Practice Facility in Metairie will serve as the location for the event and lunch will be provided for participants.
All participants must be referred by a local high school football coach. The NFL will review referrals and send formal invitations to participants selected to attend.
Invited participants must RSVP in order to reserve their spot for the program. Along with the invaluable experience, all participants will receive a 2014 HSPD Planner and Leadership Program t-shirt.
The Saints are encouraging local coaches to refer their most qualified athletes from their team for the event.
Requirements for referred participants:
*Participant must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
*Participant must have completed their sophomore year of high school.
*Participant must have at least 80% attendance at school.
*Participant must be a member of the school's football team.
*Participant must demonstrate leadership qualities such as teamwork, integrity, dedication, and commitment.
*Participant must be available to attend the full day program on June 14th at New Orleans Saints Practice Facility.
Please submit a referral form to Jason Trosclair at Jason.Trosclair@saints.nfl.com or via fax at 504-731-1782 for each referred participant no later than FRIDAY, MAY 21th, 2014. Selected participants will receive formal invitations shortly after referrals are reviewed.
