New Orleans Saints place NT John Jenkins on injured reserve, sign QB Ryan Griffin to active roster

Mickey Loomis announced the roster moves Saturday morning

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Saturday that the team has placed NT John Jenkins on the reserve/injured list, ending the season for the two-year veteran. The Saints have signed QB Ryan Griffin to the active roster from the team's practice squad.

Jenkins was a third round draft pick of the Saints in 2013 out of the University of Georgia. In two seasons, the 6-2, 359-pound nose tackle has appeared in 28 games with nine starts and has posted 70 tackles (39 solo) and one sack. In 2014, he has appeared in 12 games, starting the last four contests on the interior, and has recorded a career-high 41 stops (24 solo) and the only quarterback takedown of his career.

Griffin, 6-5, 210, spent the 2014 season on the practice squad after spending the final 10 games and two postseason contests in 2013 on the Saints active roster. In the 2014 preseason, Griffin completed 48-of-77 passes (62.3%) for 530 yards with three touchdowns, one interception and a 90.3 passer rating. The Westlake Village, Calif. native was a four-year starter at Tulane who appeared in 42 games with 39 starts, completing 836-of-1,396 passes for 9,026 yards, 79 touchdowns and 35 interceptions.
