The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with linebacker Will Herring. The announcement was made by Saints' Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

Herring, 6-3, 241 pounds, was originally drafted in the fifth-round (161st overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. After playing four seasons with the Seahawks, Herring was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Saints in 2011. In his six-year NFL career, he has appeared in 81 games with 11 starts and totaled 92 tackles (69 solo), one sack, two interceptions, four passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and 54 special teams stops.

In two seasons with New Orleans, the former Auburn standout has been a crucial member of the club's special teams units, while also providing depth in the club's linebacker corps. In 2012, Herring played in all 16 games with one start, finished with seven defensive stops (four solo) and tied for second on the team with 14 special teams stops.
