New Orleans Saints 2017 season recap: Craig Robertson

Starting in 12 games, Robertson notched 80 tackles, second highest on the team

After a career-best season with the New Orleans Saints in 2016, linebacker Craig Robertson came back wanting to continue his strong play and help the defense do its part in getting the Saints back in the playoffs. In his sixth season in the NFL, Robertson was voted as a defensive captain by his teammates. Following a Week 4 injury to rookie linebacker Alex Anzalone, Robertson stepped up and became even more impactful presence on the field. With experience in the outside and inside linebacker positions, the veteran started 12 games. He notched 80 tackles, second highest on the team, two sacks, a career-high six pass deflections, two interceptions, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries..

Best Game: The University of North Texas standout had steady play throughout the season, but his best game came in Week 15 against the New York Jets. With seven tackles, one pass deflection and one interception, Robertson paved the way to a Saints victory.

Best Quote:"It has felt real good to win this year. It's hard to win in this league...It's an awesome feeling to come in the day after a win with guys having smiles on their face and getting ready for the next week. It's a great feeling. We aren't done yet. We have to come back this week. I want to play in playoff games. Having a guy like Drew (Brees) and some of the guys they have, I think this is the place to accomplish this feat for my career finally."
