Leigh Torrence to speak at U.S. Coast Guard Academy

Leigh Torrence of the New Orleans Saints is scheduled to give a corps-wide address at the USCGA.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Super Bowl champion Leigh Torrence of the New Orleans Saints is scheduled to give a corps-wide address to kick off the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Eclipse Week Monday.

Eclipse Week is a six-day annual event combining leadership and mentoring for underrepresented military members. Torrence's speech will fit in appropriately with the goals of the week as it will focus on his journey in becoming a successful athlete and mentor as well as the importance of helping others as you rise to the top in any given field.

"It is a privilege to have Leigh open our event," said Christian Soto, a diversity affairs specialist at the Academy. "As a life-long learner and passionate public servant, Leigh embodies many of the characteristics we aim to instill in our cadets. We are thankful to have this opportunity to learn from his experiences."

This event is open to the media and public. All media members planning to attend the event are to contact the public affairs office at 860-444-8271.
