Halftime update: New Orleans Saints 21, Tennessee Titans 17

Teams are playing at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome

Quarterback Drew Brees turned in another statistically amazing first half Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as the New Orleans Saints entered halftime with a 21-17 lead over the Tennessee Titans.

Brees, who threw for seven touchdowns in a win over the Giants last week, threw for 232 yards, two touchdown passes and ran for a 1-yard touchdown.

The Titans stayed close thanks to a bizarre 61-yard touchdown catch by tight end Delani Walker. The veteran caught the ball after Saints safety Jairus Byrd and cornerback Keenan Lewis collided while trying to intercept Marcus Mariota's pass. Walker also caught a 2-yard TD pass from Mariota. The Titans scored on a 51-yard Ryan Succop field goal that was set up by a fumble by punt returner Marcus Murphy. Mariota was 9 of 15 for 172 yards in the half.

Mark Ingram was the Saints' top rusher with 12 carries for 34 yards. Brandin Cooks had two catches for 63 yards including a 38-yard touchdown reception from Brees. Tight end Josh Hill had the other touchdown catch, a 10-yarder in the first quarter. Tight end Ben Watson had three catches for 41 yards.

The Titans were driving at the end of the second quarter when David Hawthorne forced a fumble recovered by Obum Gwacham.
