The New Orleans Saints got a 24-yard field goal from Garrett Hartley early in the second quarter but couldn't muster any other offense as the Kansas City Chiefs took a 10-3 lead into halftime Friday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Saints' second-team defense made some nice stops against Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel, who played his previous four seasons in New Orleans.

Rookie defensive tackle sacked Daniel for an 8-yard loss midway through the quarter.

Key stats: Drew Brees, 7 of 10 65 yards. Alex Smith 7 of 8, 68 yards. Luke McCown, 4 of 10, 54 yards. Travaris Cadet, seven carries, 30 yards.
