- Clapp was born and raised in New Orleans and graduated from Brother Martin High School before playing at LSU.
- Clapp was a three-year starter for the Tigers at guard and center.
- The 6-foot-5 center earned first-team All-SEC at two positions and started 36 games during his time at LSU.
