Drew Brees, Tim Hightower win FedEx Air, Ground Player of the Week awards

Brees named FedEx Air Player of the Week, Hightower named FedEx Ground Player of the Week

The New Orleans Saints swept the NFL weekly FedEx awards as Drew Brees was named Air Player of the Week and Hightower was named Ground Player of the Week, the league announced Thursday.

Fans voted for both awards.

It marks the second time this season Brees has won the award as he also earned it for his performance vs the Giants in Week 8. The award is a first for Hightower. Hightower is the first Saint to win the Ground award since Mark Ingram in Week 8 of 2014.

Brees completed 25 of 36 passes (69.4 percent) for 412 yards and three touchdowns for a 135.4 passer rating. Hightower had 27 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

In honor of Super Bowl 50, FedEx is celebrating epic air and ground performances from yesterday, today and tomorrow. Will this year's rookies become air and ground stars? Which veterans will join the ranks of air and ground legends? The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities.

Along with the player awards, FedEx is making a $2,000 donation in each of the winning players' names to the local American Red Cross chapter in New Orleans. The funding is used to help assist the American Red Cross in its efforts to provide disaster relief and health services to Americans nationwide.
