New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week award for Week 5.
Brees finished 26 of 29 for 363 yards with three touchdowns (one shy of 500 for his 18-year career) against the Redskins. In addition, he surpassed Brett Favre and Payton Manning to move into first place on the NFL's all-time passing list with 72,103 yards, breaking the record on a 62-yard touchdown pass to rookie Tre'Quan Smith with 2:36 left in the second quarter.
Other nominees for FedEx Air for Week 5 are Philip Rivers (Chargers) and DeShaun Watson (Texans).
The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities. Along with the player awards, FedEx is making a $2,000 donation in each of the winning players' names that will go to the USO through FedEx Cares. The donation will be used to support USO programs that keep service members connected to family, home and country as they depart the military and find a new path in civilian life.
