Drew Brees named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Saints quarterback threw for three TDs, ran for two others in win over Falcons

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 3, it was announced Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Brees led the Saints to a stirring 43-37 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons by passing for three touchdowns and running for two others, including the game-winner on a 1-yard dive over the top.

During the game Brees became the NFL's all-time leader in completions, passing Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

Brees was 39 of 49 for 396 yards. He just needs 418 yards to become the NFL's all-time leading passer and he needs four more touchdowns for 500 in his career.

Saints players and coaches celebrate the overtime victory on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
