Drew Brees named FedEx Air Player of the Week for historic performance vs Giants

The accolade marks the second NFL weekly award Drew Brees has won this week

Drew Brees, the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, has also been named the FedEx Air Player of the Week, the NFL announced on Thursday.

Fans voted on Brees to win to award. No. 9 is also up for the Clutch Performer of the Week. Vote here.

Brees completed 39 of 50 passes (78%) for 505 yards and seven touchdowns for a 131.7 passer rating in the Saints' 52-49 win over the Giants.

In honor of Super Bowl 50, FedEx is celebrating epic air and ground performances from yesterday, today and tomorrow. Will this year's rookies become air and ground stars? Which veterans will join the ranks of air and ground legends? The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for local communities.

Along with the player awards, FedEx is making a $2,000 donation in each of the winning players' names to the local American Red Cross chapters in New Orleans and St. Louis. The funding is used to help assist the American Red Cross in its efforts to provide disaster relief and health services to Americans nationwide.
