25 reasons to get excited about Saints training camp - Delvin Breaux

Our countdown to Saints training camp presented by Verizon continues

The best feel-good story on the team is cornerback Delvin Breaux, who recovered from a broken neck that prevented him from playing in college, to making his way in the Canadian Football League to signing with his hometown New Orleans Saints.

Breaux has caught the eye of many observers this offseason, including Saints Coach Sean Payton, and should be in the mix as one of the team's top backup cornerbacks behind Keenan Lewis and Brandon Browner.

Breaux on Breaux: "I just (need to) get in the playbook more, do what the coaches tell me to do, just be an instinctive player, know what route's coming. That's going to take time with film study of other opponents and me just having the confidence of knowing I can be one of the best corners in the league."

Payton on Breaux: "He's doing well, he's picked things up. The mental element of it he's handled pretty well. He's in real good shape, you can see that now. We'll just continue to work on the fundamentals. But he's handled things, the installation, all of that really well, and that's encouraging. He made some plays today."
