Game Notes: Kansas City Chiefs 26, New Orleans Saints 13 | 2024 NFL Week 5

Carr became the 25th player in NFL history to reach 40,000 yards

• The New Orleans Saints fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 26-13, dropping to 2-3. New Orleans returns to action in the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, Oct. 13, for a division matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kickoff is set for noon CT.

• Quarterback Derek Carr finished 18-of-28 passing for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

• With 165 passing yards against the Chiefs, Carr became the 25th player in NFL history to reach 40,000 yards. He also became just the seventh quarterback to reach 40,000 passing yards in their first 11 seasons, joining Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Dan Marino, Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson.

• With two touchdown passes against the Chiefs, Carr eclipsed 250 for his career.

• Running back Alvin Kamara added 66 yards from scrimmage, 26 yards on the ground to go along with six receptions for 40 yards.

• Kamara's 528 career receptions now rank fourth in franchise history.

• Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed led the Black and Gold in receiving yards with four grabs for 86 yards, including a 43- yard touchdown pass from Carr to open the scoring for New Orleans. He also added a punt return for 10 yards and a kickoff return for 38 yards on special teams.

• Shaheed now has 619 punt return yards in his career, passing Rich Mauti for eighth place in franchise history.

• Tight end Juwan Johnson set season-highs in catches (five) and receiving yards (31).

• Tight end Foster Moreau added two grabs for 13 yards including a seven-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter.

• Linebacker Demario Davis led New Orleans with 11 tackles (five solo). The 11 stops brings his Saints career total to 704.

• Linebacker Anfernee Orji finished with 10 stops (seven solo).

• In his second game of the season, defensive tackle Khalen Saunders finished with seven tackles, one pass defense and an interception returned for 37 yards.

• It was Saunders first interception of his career and first by a Saints defensive lineman since Malcolm Roach at Carolina on September 19, 2021.

• Defensive end Chase young added three tackles to go along with his first full sack as a Saint.

• Defensive tackle Bryan Bresee added four stops (three solo) and added another sack for the Black and Gold defense. The takedown brings his season total to four, tied for second among defensive tackles and tied for 10th overall.

• Cornerback Alontae Taylor was active again for New Orleans, totaling five tackles (four solo), two stops for loss and a forced fumble.

• Punter Matthew Hayball punted four times for 199 yards (49.8 gross avg), including downing one inside the 20-yard line and a had a long of 53.

• Long snapper Zach Wood played in his 120th career game Monday night, tying linebacker Vaughan Johnson for 32nd in club record books.
