Sean Kelley's key takeaways from Thursday's Saints practice

Keenan Lewis looked good

White Sulphur Springs, W. Va. - Some key takeaways from New Orleans Saints practice on July 30, 2015 and post practice press conferences. Thursday was Day One of Training Camp 2015 presented by Verizon.

  1. Keenan Lewis was everywhere in coverage today. He had one of the plays of the day in a diving interception of a Luke McCown pass. Brandon Browner also looked very good at the other corner.
  1. Wide receiver competition is going to be an all-out battle. Nick Toon shined with a home-run catch from Drew Brees. Newcomer Willie Snead showed well. Brandin Cooks showed us more of what caught our eye last year in camp.
  1. Running back is going to be a solid group led by feature back Mark Ingram. C.J. Spiller is such a weapon. Tim Hightower is certainly one to watch in the coming weeks.
  1. Kenny Vaccaro was smart and insightful during his time with the media after practice. He seems more mature and his play on the field shows he's healthy again. Also after practice, tackle Zach Strief told the media that a better respect for each other in the locker room needs to be a key improvement from last season.
