The New Orleans Saints (0-1) will seek their first win of the season when they continue their slate of three straight NFC West opponents, to host the San Francisco 49ers (1-0) on Sunday at the Cae­sars Superdome. Kickoff for the contest is at 12:00 p.m. (CDT), which will be regionally telecast on FOX (WVUE-8 locally).

Sunday marks the 79th regular season meeting between the Saints and 49ers, with San Francisco leading the series 49-27-2. New Orleans has won six of the last 10 regular season meetings. The 49ers will be the second straight NFC West oppo­nent for the Saints, who dropped their season open­er to the Arizona Cardinals 20-13 at the Caesars Superdome. New Orleans will be led by the steady hand of Coach Kellen Moore, who made his NFL coaching debut last Sunday.

THIS WEEK IN THE NFC SOUTH: The rest of the NFC South will hit the road as the Carolina Panthers (0-1) travel to face the Arizona Cardinals (1-0) on Sunday at 3:05 p.m., the Atlanta Falcons (0-1) visit the Minnesota Vikings (1-0) on "Sunday Night Football" at 7:20 p.m., and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) head off to face the Houston Texans (0-1) on "Monday Night Football" at 6 p.m.

SAINTS vs. 49ERS SEASON SERIES HISTORY

Foes in the old NFC West from 1970-2001, the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers have an extensive regular season history in addition to playing one of the most thrilling games in NFL playoff history. While San Francisco leads the regular season series 49-27-2, New Orleans has captured six of the last 10 regular season meetings. The first meeting between the two clubs was a 27-13 Saints loss on Oct. 22, 1967 in San Francisco's Kezar Stadium during New Orleans' inaugural season. The last meeting was a 13-0 49ers win at Levis Stadium on Nov. 27, 2022.

In the 78 regular season games of the series there has been:
• Two seven-game San Francisco winning streaks from 1974-77 and from 1996-99
• A six-game regular season winning streak for New Orleans from 2002-10.
• A 15-25 record for the Saints in home contests, including a 27-13 win on November 15, 2020, the last matchup at the Superdome.
• 37 games decided by double-digits.
• 12 games decided by 21-or-more points.
• 38 games decided by a touchdown or less.
