49ers only team to score in period

Third-quarter update: The New Orleans Saints' third turnover of the game led to another short scoring drive for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday as they took a 17-14 lead into the final period at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees was picked off by 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks who returned it to the Saints' 22-yard line. 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick that connected with tight end Vernon Davis for a 17-yard scoring pass.

The Saints drove into 49ers territory but failed on a fourth-and-four converstion.
