Saints Postgame Notes

• The Saints have had three consecutive games decided by three points or less for the first time since Weeks 4-6 of the 2006 season. The Saints also went 2-1 in that stretch.
• The Saints ran 79 plays from scrimmage and possessed the ball for 38:22. The time of possession total is the third-highest in Sean Payton's five years as head coach.
• QB Drew Brees completed 33 of 48 passes for 275 yards with one touchdown.
• On his first completion in Sunday's game, Brees moved past Aaron Brooks for second place on the Saints franchise list for career passing yards. Brees now has 19,427 passing yards in 67 games in a Saints uniform and trails only Archie Manning (21,734).
• RB Chris Ivory made his first career start and carried the ball on the Saints' first offensive play. Ivory finished with 12 carries for a team-high 67 yards.
• RB Ladell Betts also saw his most extensive action as a Saint, carrying the ball 13 times for 47 yards and catching four passes for 23 yards.
• WR Lance Moore made his third touchdown catch in the last two weeks on the first play of the second quarter.
• WR Devery Henderson, who had seven receptions in the first three games, tied for the team lead with six catches for 59 yards Sunday.
• TE Jimmy Graham got his first career touch on an end-around on the Saints' first offensive series.
• K John Carney became the third player to participate in an NFL game at age 46. The late George Blanda played until age 48, while former Saints K Morten Andersen played until he was 47.
• Carney had a perfect afternoon, making all three of his field-goal attempts and his only extra point.
• QB Chase Daniel held for Carney's kicks and made his NFL debut in the process. Daniel did not play in the first three games and was either the third quarterback or did not play last season.
• DT Sedrick Ellis had his third sack of the year, extending his team lead. Ellis also contributed four total tackles and two pass breakups on batted balls at the line.
• S Usama Young, who shared the team lead with five tackles, had his first career sack in the second quarter. Young had another big play behind the line late in the fourth quarter with a tackle for loss on DeAngelo Williams.
• For the second consecutive week, deep snapper Jason Kyle had a hand in a takeaway following a Saints punt. Last week, he recovered a muffed punt and got two feet in bounds to give the Saints possession. On Sunday, he forced a fumble by Panthers PR Captain Munnerlyn that was recovered by Courtney Roby.
• The Saints went more than 37 minutes of Sunday's game before committing a penalty. A third-quarter holding call was the first infraction against New Orleans on the day.
