New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month

Lutz wins September honor after making 10 of 11 field-goal attempts in first four games

New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, the league announced Thursday morning.

Lutz, a third-year player out of Georgia State, made 10 of 11 field-goal attempts in the Saints' first four games and all 11 extra-point attempts. He leads the NFL in scoring with 41 points,

Lutz had a big impact in last Sunday's road win vs. the New York Giants as he accounted for all of the Saints' first-half points with four field goals. Saints running back Alvin Kamara praised his teammate's contributions in this postgame video.

The Saints are 3-1 and in first place in the NFC South heading into their "Monday Night Football" game vs. Washington at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
