New Orleans Saints tight end Michael Hoomanawanui returned to the University of Illinois and walked across the graduation stage this offseason, receiving his bachelor degree in recreation, sport and tournism with a sports management emphasis.
Hoomanawanui was one class and an internship shy of his degree when he left school early to train for the NFL Combine. He was selected in the fifth round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.

While in Illinois, Hoomanwanui also visited with Special Olympics Young Athletes at Parkside Junior High School to speak about Project UNIFY and signed autographs for the Bloomington-Normal fans at the Cornbelters baseball game.
