Lightning threat causes delay in New Orleans Saints-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game

Game stopped with Saints up 3-0

Tampa, Fla. - NFL officials stopped the New Orleans Saints-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game at 3:18 central Sunday because of a threat of lightning in the area. The decision was made just after the Saints kicked off following a 44-yard Garrett Hartley field goal on the team's first possession.

Both teams went to their locker rooms and fans scurried to find shelter at Raymond James Stadium.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees was 3 of 6 for 49 yards with two of the completions to receiver Marques Colston.

When play resumes the Bucs will have the ball at their 20-yard line with 10:03 to play in the first quarter.
