New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager announced today that the club has signed RB Evan Hull from the practice squad to the active roster, activated T Barry Wesley off Injured Reserve, signed K Cade York, RB Ian Wheeler and WR Samori Toure to the practice squad, waived K Blake Grupe, and terminated the practice squad contracts of WR Jha'Quan Jackson and LB Eku Leota.
Hull, 5-10, 209, was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern in 2023 and joined the Saints practice squad in Week Ten. In his career, he has appeared in two games for the Colts (2023-24), carrying once for one yard and had a six-yard reception in the 2023 season opener. In the 2024 preseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he carried 11 times for 33 yards and caught two passes for eight yards.
At Northwestern, the Maple Grove, Minn. native played in 37 career games (23 starts), rushing 488 times for 2,417 yards (5.0 avg.) with 18 touchdowns and had 94 receptions for 851 yards with four touchdowns. He garnered All-Big Ten Honorable Mention recognition in each of his last two seasons (2021-22). As a senior in 2022, he started all 12 games and finished with 221 carries for 913 yards and five touchdowns, also tallying 55 receptions (led all FBS running backs) for 546 yards with two touchdowns.
Wesley, 6-7, 310, joins the active roster after spending the first 12 weeks of the season on Injured Reserve. The Lakewood, Colo. native played for the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL in 2023 after playing four seasons at Colorado State (2018-21). After the 2023 XFL season, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons and competed in their 2023 training camp, eventually joining the practice squad prior to the start of the regular season.
After competing with the Falcons in the 2024 preseason, he joined the UFL's Birmingham Stallions for the 2025 campaign, where he played in 11 games with nine starts at both tackle and guard. Wesley was also a finalist for the league's 2025 Sportsman of the Year award, recognizing sportsmanship, character and community service. In four collegiate seasons in Fort Collins, Wesley started all 38 games he played in at tackle and guard after initially joining the team as a walk-on in 2018.
York, 6-1, 206, was originally selected in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns out of LSU. In 23 games with the Browns (2022), Washington Commanders (2024) and Cincinnati Bengals (2024), the Prosper, Texas native drilled 33-of-45 field goals and 51-of-54 extra points attempts for 150 total points. In 2022, York set Browns rookie records for points (107) and PATs (35), while finishing second for field goals made (24). In 2024, York kicked in one game for Washington and the final five contests of the season for Cincinnati, making nine-of-13 field goal attempts and 16-of-17 PATs.
A three-year letterman at LSU, York was selected second-team All-SEC by conference coaches in 2021 as a junior, connecting on 15-of-18 field goals and all 39 PATs to reach a school-record streak of 118 consecutive PATs made. In 2019, he led the nation in PATs (89) and finished second in the nation in scoring (152 points) as a freshman in 2019 for the National Champions. His 152 points in 2019 were the most by a kicker in college football and second overall.
Wheeler, 5-10, 206, joins New Orleans after originally signing as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft with the Chicago Bears out of Howard. The Houston, Texas native spent the 2024 season on Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury. In five collegiate seasons (2019-23), Wheeler rushed 177 times for 1,154 yards (6.5 avg.) with 14 touchdowns, caught 23 passes for 234 yards (10.2 avg.) with one score, and returned 42 kickoffs for 1,322 yards (25.4 avg.) with three touchdowns. He also saw time on defense in his five seasons with the Bison, recording 21 tackles (13 solo).
Toure, 6-1, 196, was originally selected in the seventh round (258th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers out of Nebraska. The Portland, Ore. native has appeared in 22 career games with two starts for Green Bay, recording 13 receptions for 160 yards with one touchdown. Toure also spent time on the practice squad with the Chicago Bears (2024) and the Denver Broncos (2025).
In six collegiate seasons with Montana (2016-20) and Nebraska (2021), Toure played in 48 games and caught 201 passes for 3,386 yards (16.8 avg.) with 25 touchdowns. With the Cornhuskers, he finished with 46 receptions for 898 yards and five touchdowns, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors from Pro Football Focus and was an honorable mention selection by the league's media.
