Defensive end Doug Atkins, member of first New Orleans Saints team, named to NFL 100 All-Time team

Atkins was one of seven defensive ends to make the team

Defensive end Doug Atkins, who was a member of the first New Orleans Saints team in 1967, on Friday, Nov. 29 was named a member of the NFL100 All-Time Team.

Atkins played for the Saints from 1967-69, the end of an illustrious career that included two seasons in Cleveland and 12 seasons with the Chicago Bears. He was first-team All-Pro in 1963 and was selected to eight Pro Bowls, seven consecutively.

The 6-foot-8, 257-pounder was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and the Saints Hall of Fame in 1995. He played 39 of his 205 games with the Saints.
