Halftime Update: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7, New Orleans Saints 3 | 2025 NFL Week 8

Buccaneers will get the ball to start the second half

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered halftime with a 7-3 lead over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome despite the Bucs' offense not scoring.

The Saints had a terrific goal-line stand midway through the second quarter, stopping the Bucs from the 1-yard line on four consecutive plays but taking over that close to their goal line ended poorly as Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler had a pass deflected and caught by defensive end Anthony Nelson, who ran it four yards for the touchdown.

The Saints (1-6) had a promising opening drive end when Tampa forced a fumble by Rattler during a scramble up the middle. Another promising drive was wiped out when Tampa forced a fumble by receiver Rashid Shaheed, giving Tampa the ball at the Saints' 47-yard line with 1:44 left in the second quarter. Rattler was 14 of 18 for 125 yards with two carries for nine yards.

The Saints defense played arguably its best half of the season, sacking Tampa quarterback Baker Mayfield three times, including forcing a fumble the team recovered with 47 seconds left. Defensive end Chase Young was credited with 1.5 sacks and had the forced fumble that led to Blake Grupe's 48-yard field goal.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara joined another exclusive list Sunday when he became the fourth running back in NFL history to have 600 or more receptions. He entered Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers needing two receptions to hit the milestone and accomplished that in the final minute of the second quarter. He had two receptions for 24 yards and three carries for 12 yards.

The Bucs (5-2) will get the ball to start the second half.
