NFL CAREER – Few players in the era of NFL free agency can rival the impact that Drew Brees has made on the Saints since arriving in 2006 from the San Diego Chargers – leading the team to victory in Super Bowl XLIV and being named the contest's MVP, earning league Offensive Player of the Year honors after three seasons, Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year and Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year in 2010, being named to the Pro Bowl 11 times and shattering league passing records. He ranks among the league's elite quarterbacks, becoming the first player in NFL history to pass for over 4,000 yards in 12-straight campaigns – including an NFL-record five 5,000-yard passing seasons. Brees has also set single-season NFL records since joining the Saints in 300-yard passing games (13, 2011), completions (471, 2016) and completion percentage (74.4%, 2018). His streak of 54 consecutive games with a touchdown pass from 2009-12 shattered a mark that had stood since 1960. In 2018, he broke the NFL's all-time completions and passing yardage records completing 364-of-489 passes (74.4%) for 3,992 yards, 32 touchdowns and a career-high 115.7 passer rating with only five interceptions over 15 starts. He also carried 29 times for 24 yards with a career-high four touchdowns. He surpassed his own NFL single-season mark for completion percentage. He owns four of the top five completion percentage totals in NFL record books. Brees' record as a starter for the Saints is 125-80 (.610) in the regular season and 8-6 (.571) in the postseason, easily making him the winningest signal-caller in all-time team annals. Brees also has thrown for over 300 yards in a league-record 115 games, including a league-best 16 contests with over 400. Overall in his 18-year NFL career, he's completed 6,586-of-9,783 passes (67.3%) for 74,437 yards, 520 touchdowns and a 97.7 rating. He's the NFL's all-time yardage record holder and most accurate passer, ranks first in completions, second in touchdown passes and he's third in passer rating. A pillar of the community, he's also received numerous accolades and awards for taking a leadership role off the field in the Gulf South.
