New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed unrestricted free agent running back Travis Etienne Jr. to a multi-year contract.

Etienne (pronounced ETN), 5 feet 10, 215 pounds, was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round (25th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Clemson. In five NFL seasons with Jacksonville (2021–25), he appeared in 66 games with 60 starts and rushed 897 times for 3,798 yards (4.2 avg.) with 25 touchdowns and had 168 receptions for 1,338 yards with seven receiving touchdowns. In three postseason contests, the Jennings, La., native, started each of the three games he appeared in, rushing 40 times for 238 yards (6.0 avg.) with one touchdown and had nine catches for 79 yards and one score.

In 2025, Etienne appeared in all 17 games with 16 starts and rushed for 1,107 yards on 260 carries with seven touchdowns, while adding 36 receptions for 292 yards with a career-high and team-leading six receiving touchdowns. His six touchdown receptions ranked second among NFL running backs in 2025. In the Jaguars' AFC Wild Card postseason contest against Buffalo, Etienne recorded 116 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown reception.

During his time with Jacksonville, Etienne established himself as one of the most productive running backs in franchise history. He finished his Jaguars tenure ranked third in team history in rushing yards (3,798), fourth in rushing touchdowns (25), fifth in scrimmage yards (5,136) and sixth in total touchdowns (32). Among Jaguars running backs, he ranks fourth in receiving yards (1,338) and receptions (168). From 2022–25, Etienne was one of only three NFL players to record at least 500 rushing yards and 250 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons, joining Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs.

At Clemson, Etienne completed one of the most prolific careers in school, conference and college football history. Over 55 career games with 42 starts, he rushed 686 times for 4,952 yards (7.2 avg.) and 70 touchdowns, while adding 102 receptions for 1,155 yards with eight touchdowns. He finished his collegiate career as the Atlantic Coast Conference's all-time leader in rushing yards (4,952), rushing touchdowns (70), total touchdowns (78) and points (468). Etienne also set the NCAA FBS record for most career games scoring a touchdown, finding the end zone in 46 of his 55 games. He was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019 and helped lead Clemson to four ACC championships, four College Football Playoff appearances, two national championship game appearances and the 2018 national title.

A highly decorated prep standout at Jennings High School, Etienne was rated a top-125 national prospect by ESPN, ranking No. 114 overall, the No. 13 running back in the country and the No. 4 player in Louisiana. He was also ranked the No. 8 prospect in the state by 247Sports. As a senior in 2016, he rushed for 2,459 yards on 211 carries (11.7 avg.) and helped lead Jennings to an 11-2 record and a third-round appearance in the LHSAA playoffs.
