New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced that the team signed free agent wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr.. Here are five things to know about the Saints roster addition:
- Daniels signs with the Saints as an undrafted free agent after previously trying out with the team during 2025 rookie minicamp.
- The 5-9, 186-pound wide receiver played in 52 games over four seasons at SMU and tallied 105 catches for 1,485 yards and 12 touchdown receptions. He also registered 75 rushes for 285 yards and four touchdowns.
- Daniels brings experience in the return game having served as the Mustangs primary punt returner for three seasons. He finished his career with 56 punt returns for 592 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 16 kickoffs for 358 yards.
- As an SMU senior in 2024, he appeared in all 14 games (eight starts) and set new career highs with 42 receptions for 663 yards. He also matched his career high of four receiving touchdowns. In addition, Daniels added 160 rushing yards on 44 carries and was a honorable mention for All-ACC honors.
- The Duncanville, Texas native attended Duncanville High School where he played football and participated in track and field. He participated in the 100 meters and relays. His personal best 100 meter finish was 11.18.
