New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced that the club has agreed to terms with free agent guard David Edwards. Here are five things to know about Edwards:

1. Veteran has played in 103 games

Edwards adds a veteran presence to the Saints offensive line with seven years of NFL experience. He has appeared in 103 regular season games, starting 77 of them. He started his career with the Los Angeles Rams after being selected in the fifth round (169th overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played four seasons with the Rams before spending the last three with the Buffalo Bills.

2. Super Bowl LVI champion

Edwards helped the Rams to a victory in Super Bowl LVI. He started all 17 regular season games and four playoff games en route to a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals to help the Rams claim the championship. He appeared 12 total playoff games over the course of his career, including 10 starts.

3. Containing quick pressure

Edwards allowed only four quick pressures (under 2.5 seconds) in 2025 for a 0.7% quick pressure rate, third-lowest among left guards with 300+ pass blocks according to Next Gen Stats. All-Pros Joe Thuney and Quenton Nelson were the only left guards to allow lower marks.

4. Wisconsin Badger line convert

Edwards attended the University of Wisconsin where he played in 37 career games over three seasons, including 31 starts at right tackle. He began his career with the Badgers at tight end before moving to the offensive line prior to his first training camp. During his freshman year in 2016, he played right tackle opposite Saints legend Ryan Ramczyk at left tackle. He earned All-Big 10 honors two times and Academic All-Big Ten three times.

5. Former high school quarterback

Edwards played three seasons at quarterback for Downers Grove North High School, while also playing defensive end, outside linebacker and long snapper. He tallied more than 2,000 yards in the veer option offense. He was also a four-year letter winner and two-time captain on the basketball team.
