New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced that the club has been awarded tackle Xavier Truss off waivers from the Denver Broncos. Here are five things to know about the Saints roster addition:
- Truss joins the Saints after spending the offseason with the Denver Broncos. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Georgia, Truss primarily played right tackle during Denver's preseason contests.
- The 6'7", 320-pound tackle played six seasons for the Georgia Bulldogs, appearing in 67 games with starts across the offensive line. This included one start at left tackle, 18 starts at left guard, one start at right guard and 22 starts at right tackle.
- Truss helped the Bulldogs to consecutive National Championships in 2021 and 2022. In 2021, Truss saw action as a reserve lineman, appearing in all 15 games. In 2022, he once again appeared in all 15 games and tallied 14 starts at left guard.
- The native of West Warwick, Rhode Island attended Bishop Hendricken High School where he guided the Hawks to back-to-back Rhode Island State Super Bowl appearances and earned the state title in 2018. He also played on the defensive line during his junior year with 45 tackles and two sacks.
- Truss also participated in the shot put and discus, helping the high school team to three state championships in indoor track and field. His personal best in shot put was 51' 3" and discus was 124' 6".
