The Saints return to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this Sunday evening for their first prime time home game of the regular season. To assist fans in preparing for the Saints vs. Green Bay Packers game, SMG is pleased to provide the following information about Champions Square and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Champions Square will open at 4pm on Sunday, along with club XLIV and the Opening Act. All gates at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will open at 5:30pm, with the exception of Gate A Ground Level, which opens at 4:30pm for Suite and ADA patrons only.
A costume contest will provide two fans with an opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the Saints-Packers game. The fun contest has two categories: Best Halloween Costume and Best Saints Fan Costume, and the winner of each will receive two tickets to Sunday's game. Entry time for the contest is from 4pm to 5:45pm, with registration inside Opening Act at Champions Square.
Opening Act – an indoor entertainment space adjacent to the Square – has no cover charge, features food and beverage specials starting at kickoff and over 30 HDTVs inside. It has quickly become a favorite place for fans to gather before, during and after games. For patrons who want to avoid the postgame traffic, Opening Act will also remain open an hour after the game.
The VIP pregame experience for patrons is club XLIV, which was recently given a dramatic renovation. A $10 admission includes one complimentary premium cocktail and automatic entry into the door prize to win a Saints jersey. DJ G-Cue provides the entertainment, and 'Ween Dream is the "Group of the Week" at club XLIV. 'Ween Dream is a national nonprofit that provides free Halloween costumes to kids in need. The food in club XLIV is exclusively provided by Food Drunk, including the Saints King Cake Burger and Chicken & Waffle Sandwich.
The entertainment at Champions Square this week is local band Bag of Donuts. Food and beverage will be available throughout the Square, and there will be several food trucks, including Dixie Concessions, Food Drunk, Kona Ice, NOLA Girl, Rue Chow, Holy Grill, Dirty Dishes and Rotolo's.
Patrons should allow for extra time to enter the stadium for the NFL's security measures. Security at all entrancesfor both the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Champions Square will include metal-detecting wands, and the NFL's clear bag policy will be enforced. Bags are restricted to one clear vinyl/plastic bag (12" x 12" x 6") per person, and one small clutch purse (6.5" x 4.5" maximum size). The small clutch can be taken in with the larger clear plastic bag, or separately.
