Key takeaways from Sean Payton's Aug. 2 media availability

Payton met with the media following Wednesday's practice

The New Orleans Saints announced Wednesday, Aug. 2 that they have signed running back Darius Victor and linebacker Jonathan Walton, terminated the contract of offensive lineman Orlando Franklin and waived/injured linebacker Sae Tautu.

Senio Kelemente came off the PUP and returned to practice.

Rookie cornerback Marshon Lattimore "got his knee tweaked," Payton said. "I think he'll be fine and it won't be long."

Payton said the offensive line needed healthy bodies and Franklin had soreness and would have missed his next practice.

With the centers struggling to produce consistent snaps, Payton said that Kelemente will get some reps at center. He went on to say, "We'll get that cleaned up."

Payton had positive things to say about rookie safety Marcus Williams after he intercepted Brees in practice. "If you looked at his college numbers, he was probably the most productive safety coming out in regards to ball production."

Payton thinks the team "still has work to do" with its level of intensity during practice.
