New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees spoke with the media following Monday's practice at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center. What's the goal for the game? "When the starters are in there, you want to perform well," he said. "You want to execute well."
Brees didn't say whether he will play Thursday. "I do whatever Sean Payton decides in regards to the playing time... I'm always ready to play."
Brees talked about the growth of the defense throguh the first two weeks of training camp. "I feel like the energy has been high... I think that there's a confidence level that's going up with the things that they're doing."
The use of the satellite running back has been key to the success of the Saints offense with Brees. "I think it gives us a ton of versatility. I think that's always a matchup issue for the defense."
